ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Nivada Grenchen Aquamar Gray 32077A

With the Aquamar series shows Nivada Grenchen the modern revival of a lesser-known but charismatic diver's watch from the late 1960s. Rooted in the Antarctic family, each Aquamar model combines old-time charm with professional-level technical features, making them a highly versatile and collectible timepiece.

Staying true to its original proportions, the Aquamar's 38mm stainless steel case, double-domed sapphire crystal and 200-meter water resistance are ideal for both diving adventures and everyday wear. The bi-directional ceramic bezel and sandwich-style dial offer depth, legibility and distinctive character.

A defining feature of the collection is the two-tone roulette-style date disc, which adds a whimsical, collector-friendly touch to the otherwise tool-focused design. What really sets the Aquamar apart, however, is its innovative system with changing lumens: the date disc itself is provided with two different Super-LumiNova colors - white and vintage beige. As the date changes, so does the glow, giving the watch a subtle shift between a clean, modern look and a warm, aged aesthetic. This clever feature transforms the Aquamar into a dynamic visual experience that evolves on your wrist every day. The dials - available in matte blue, black and gray - feature white Super-LumiNova indices with a patina finish, echoing the charm of the aged tritium of vintage divers.

THE RETURN OF NIVADA GRENCHEN'S GLORIOUS ERA

The history of Nivada Grenchen dates back to 1926, the year Jacob Schneider founded the first watchmaking company in Grenchen. His son Max took over the business in 1976. At that time, the company Croton distributed all Nivada Grenchen watches in the United States. Therefore, these historical watches may bear either the Nivada Grenchen or Croton signature, or both.

In 1930, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first companies to manufacture automatic watches. This led to the creation in 1950 of Nivada Grenchen's first waterproof automatic watch, the legendary Antarctic. The watch was worn by the members of the US Navy's Deep Freeze One during their expedition to the South Pole from 1955 to 1956.
Since then, Nivada Grenchen has been known for the robust and reliable performance of the Antarctic under extreme conditions.

In 1961, the company launched the Chronomaster – a chronograph water-resistant to 200 meters. There were three different collections: Chronomaster, Aviator, and Sea Diver.

The Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster was so successful that its production continued until the end of 1970.

In 1964, Nivada Grenchen released another groundbreaking timepiece – this time a diver's watch called the Depthomatic. It was the first diver's watch with a depth gauge, i.e., a bathymeter. A year later, the Depthmaster model was introduced – another diver's watch capable of withstanding a pressure of 100 ATM (1000 meters).

In 2018, the Nivada Grenchen brand was revived with its two iconic models – the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver and the Antarctic.
