Ollech & Wajs – OW Zurich

About OW Ollech Wajs:

In 1956, the two Swiss watchmaking specialists Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs founded the company Ollech & Wajs. Because they placed particular emphasis on precision, robustness, and durability, the two partners selected only the finest components to manufacture the highest quality wristwatches in their workshop. Since then, the Zurich-based company has been dedicated to producing mechanical watches that can withstand any challenge.

The simple OW monogram quickly became well-known and enjoyed widespread popularity.
High reputation in many areas. Military and pilot's watches, which share the same reputation.
Watches equipped with the Valjoux 72 movement, such as the Rolex Daytona, were very popular with American soldiers on the battlefields.
Vietnam needed robust and reliable watches. Pilots and scientists relied on watches like the OW Selectron, which had an integrated slide rule as a calculator. Even at headquarters... NASA OW watches were used.

With its patented monobloc stainless steel case, certified water-resistant to a depth of 1000 meters, the Caribbean 1000 enabled OW to set a new world record ahead of Omega and Rolex.

OW watches have not only proven themselves in the Vietnam War, but have also been worn by NASA astronauts and scientists, the French Air Force, the Red Arrows, record-breaking divers, early oil field divers, British CI5 agents, and the legendary Cream bassist. Jack Bruce Worn and admired worldwide. And all this despite the fact that the full company name was never seen on a single watch face.

Following Albert Wajs' retirement from the company in 2016 – 60 years after its founding – OW Ollech Wajs was acquired by Charles Le Menestrel, a long-time collector and distributor of the brand. In 2017, a new collection of exceptional timepieces was unveiled, embodying the original vision of Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs while meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
